Parenting Media Association 2011 Design and Editorial Awards Program

The Coulee Parenting Connection is a local publication serving the La Crosse WI area. Their team just got back from the PMA convention in San Antonio, Texas late on Sunday. Coulee Parenting Connection were nominated for 5 awards in three categories, and won in two!

 Here are a couple of things First Expressions was involved with:

For a story about a roundtable discussion, the designer combined a conversational style of display
typography, photos of people sitting and talking, and a series of quotes into an engaging layout. The overall
effect is much greater than the sum of its parts, and the visual storytelling really makes this story leap off the
page.

Coulee Parenting Connection begins with strong covers. The cover photos clearly illustrate the lead story, and they are technically strong. This entry works hard to have one large image with each article. Of note is the School Success issue with the creative 20 Under 20 illustration and several other large, lead images.

One of my favorite products I sell is the mini album.
